Responsibilities

The Customer Portal Front End Development team is looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to join us in the U.S. In this role, you will work as a member of a small team responsible for building and maintaining web applications deployed on the Customer Portal. You'll also help develop and maintain our library of UI components used throughout the Red Hat web properties. You'll write code, review pull requests, fix bugs, and experience agile development while using some of the latest frontend technologies. As a Frontend Software Engineer, you'll need to be smart, friendly, collaborative, curious, and passionate about frontend development. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of web development experience
  • 2+ years of application development experience
  • Good understanding of Web Standards, semantic HTML markup, and CSS
  • Understanding of CSS preprocessors like Sass and LESS
  • Solid understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Good understanding of frontend JavaScript frameworks like AngularJS, React.js, Vue.js, Polymer, etc.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards
  • Proficient in building progressive web applications; understanding of the progressive enhancement methodology in general
  • Good understanding of unit testing and end-to-end testing with tools like Mocha, Chai, Selenium, and BrowserStack
  • Solid understanding of Git
  • Understanding of Web Components
  • Understanding of browser differences and how to overcome them
