Senior Software Engineer, UI/React at New Relic

Location: Portland, Oregon

Posted February 14, 2019

At New Relic, we provide our customers with real-time insights so they can innovate faster. Our software provides deep observability across the stack, and we need a talented JavaScript Engineer to lead our Browser Product UI to the next level.

You will create tools that make software engineers better. You’ve created large React applications, have SPA experience, and mentored with a track record of collaboration. You care about client-side performance and can explain why onload, first paint, and time to first interaction may or may not be the right indicators for your web page performance.

As an engineer on the Browser Team you will:

  • Work with our talented designer and product management team to figure out how we can present large amounts of browser metrics to customers in a simple, meaningful, and actionable way
  • Build reusable interface components and patterns that make development faster and easier
  • Bake stability into everything you do. As part of our cross-functional team you'll also participate in an on-call rotation to share support work and ensure a healthy work-life balance for everyone
  • Work closely with product management, technical support, and design to build the right features and ensure our customers understand their digital business

How do you know if you're right for this job?

  • You have deep JavaScript and DOM experience
  • You can plan, execute, and lead performant React component builds
  • You have a track record of leading medium to large features from concept to production
  • You are curious about how modern browsers work, the vast amounts of data they process and what that data can tell you about your app
  • You enjoy mentoring others and enjoy improving software through constant iteration
  • You take collaboration, leadership, inclusiveness, and team trust seriously
  • You ship incrementally and often
